Monthly Botanical Workshops at East End Arts School in Riverhead

 Light on Form I (The Principles) - Friday, March 22, 2019  from 2:00 - 5:00 PM

 In this workshop we will work to create the illusion of three-dimensionality and a sense of reality, learning the basis techniques to accurately render   different botanical shapes, by way of tonal drawing executed in monochrome. We will be using graphite pencils and a single dark colored pencil, varying   the tones to describe form, depth of space, and volume. All levels welcome.

 Light on Form II (Applied to Spring Flowers) - Wednesday, April 17, 2019  from 2:00 - 5:00 PM

 Study, and render the play of light and shadows on flowers in monochrome, creating the appearance of three-dimensionality on a two dimensional   surface  (paper).

 The Many Shades of Green (Colored Pencil) - Friday, May 17, 2019  from 2:00 - 5:00 PM

 In this workshop we will learn to replicate the different and many hues of green found in nature, and to match, mix, deepen, alter, and choose the   appropriate colored pencils for botanicals. All levels welcome.

 Pollinators and Their Host Plants (Ink & Colored Pencil) - Monday, June 10, 2019 from 2:00 - 5:00 PM

 We will be using Micron Pens to create an ink drawing and overlaying this with colored pencil, using photographs as the reference material. This method is   quick and prefect for sketchbook entries.

 Drawing Shells/Exploring the Fibonacci Sequence (Graphite and Colored Pencil) - Monday, July 15, 2019, from 2:00 - 5:00 PM

 Observe the exquisite forms found in nature that are often organized in a predictable pattern. By studying and applying the Fibonacci Sequence, learn to   recognize the growth pattern in sea shells and render them in either graphite or colored pencil.

 Drawing Birds and Feathers - Wednesday, August 14, 2019 from 2:00 - 5:00 PM

 Working from photographs and other reference material learn the tricks to quickly sketch a bird and work up this sketch to a complete drawing in a   number of steps or concentrate on accurately drawing a feather.
